Major Reform Planned for Kamil and Fazil Madrasa Degrees in Uttar Pradesh

Sujit Sharma | March 10, 2026, 17:28 IST

Campus Times |LucknowThe Uttar Pradesh government is planning a major reform in the madrasa education system by affiliating madrasas with state universities. The move aims to provide students studying in madrasas with better academic recognition and wider employment opportunities. Under the proposed plan, examinations for Kamil and Fazil courses offered in madrasas will be conducted by state universities. To implement the change, the government intends to amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, allowing madrasas to receive affiliation from nearby universities in a manner similar to degree colleges.Boost to Recognition and EmploymentOfficials say the initiative is designed to ensure that madrasa students receive academic credentials equivalent to those of university students. Once affiliated with universities, the degrees awarded to madrasa students will gain wider recognition, potentially improving their access to professional and government job opportunities. At present, students studying in madrasas have limited avenues for employment outside a few specialized sectors. The state government believes that linking madrasas with universities will help bridge this gap and make higher education pathways more accessible.A Strategic Step for Future OpportunitiesThe proposal has been prepared by the state’s Higher Education Department and is currently under review. After necessary scrutiny, it will be sent to the government for approval and subsequently placed before the state cabinet. However, nearly ten days later, no action has been taken.Demand for DialogueThe SFI BBAU Unit states that students were seeking a written timeline for reopening the gates. UP’s SHE-Marts: Boosting Women Entrepreneurs with Markets, Capital & Networks under Pink Budget 2026

Abhishek Singh | February 11, 2026, 17:01 IST

Campus Times|LucknowUttar Pradesh is taking bold steps to empower rural women, and it’s not just about government schemes—it’s about creating opportunities, independence, and a future where women can thrive. Under the Pink Budget 2026-27, the state is focusing on entrepreneurship, safety, and self-reliance, in line with the Union Budget 2026-27’s vision to boost women-led businesses and increase women’s participation in India’s economy. What is SHE-Mart ?One of the most exciting initiatives is SHE-Mart (Self-Help Entrepreneur Mart). Think of it as a hub where women become business owners, selling their products directly to customers instead of relying on loans. SHE-Marts build on the popular Lakhpati Didi program, which helped women learn practical skills like plumbing, making LED bulbs, and even using drones—helping them earn a steady ₹1 lakh per year. What makes SHE-Marts special is their three-level support system—markets, capital, and networks. This means women can grow their businesses, access funding, and connect with other entrepreneurs, taking their enterprises to the next level. By linking women’s groups to both agricultural and non-agricultural markets, the initiative boosts rural economies while making women financially independent. It’s not just about business. Mission Shakti, UP’s flagship women’s safety program, is in its 5.0 phase (launched 2025), focusing on self-defense, legal awareness, dignity, and economic participation. Strengthened helplines, community centres, and police support have already led to fewer complaints and faster response times, making communities safer for women.UP Sparks Women LeadersOfficials say these initiatives are creating a new generation of confident, independent women who are contributing to the state’s growth. By combining entrepreneurship, safety, and social empowerment, Uttar Pradesh is setting a model for inclusive development and women’s empowerment that’s not just for today—it’s shaping the future.

They also claimed that banners and posters brought for the protest were torn. According to the protesters, these actions were taken to prevent them from continuing their demonstration.A protest by candidates of the 69,000 teacher recruitment in Lucknow turned tense on Tuesday after police blocked their march, leading to pushing, arguments, and the forcible removal of protesters onto buses.Candidates alleged discrimination in the handling of the 69,000 teacher recruitment case, claiming that backward and Dalit applicants have been waiting for justice for nearly 10 months. Through posters and graphics, protesters argued that while a Supreme Court decision benefiting 15 per cent upper-caste candidates was delivered in a single day, no progress has been made for the remaining 85 per cent from reservation categories. They also pointed out that a UGC-related matter was resolved within a day, whereas the teacher recruitment issue continues to remain pending.“We’ll Keep Coming Every Day, Police Can’t Block Us for Long”Amarendra, who joined the protest, said they would continue coming every day and would approach MLAs, leaders, and ministers one by one. “Let’s see how long the police can stop us. We will keep fighting for our rights for as long as we live,” he said.
