The cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has triggered disappointment, frustration and emotional reactions among lakhs of medical aspirants across India. The decision came days after allegations of a major paper leak in Rajasthan, prompting authorities to order a fresh examination and initiate a detailed investigation into the matter.
Reacting to the development, Manish Singh, Director of SKD Group of Education, called the situation “deeply unfortunate” for students who had prepared for the examination with dedication and hard work over several months.
“Millions of students worked tirelessly for this examination. It is natural for them to feel upset and emotionally exhausted after hearing this news,” he said.
However, Singh also urged students to view the situation with optimism, expressing hope that the re-examination would now be conducted with greater transparency, strict monitoring and fairness.
“We believe the next examination will be held with complete honesty and stronger security measures. A fresh date may be announced in June or July, and students will likely receive new admit cards without any additional fee,” he stated.
He further added that the upcoming examination could be slightly tougher, particularly in the Physics section, but maintained that such a move would ultimately benefit deserving and hardworking candidates.
“If the difficulty level increases, the merit list may shift slightly lower, but genuine and deserving students will receive better opportunities. Those relying on unfair means will automatically be filtered out of the system,” Singh said.
Encouraging aspirants not to lose confidence, he appealed to students to continue their preparation with renewed energy and determination.
“This is not the time to lose hope. Stay positive, stay motivated and continue working towards your goal. Hard work never goes to waste,” he added.
The SKD New Standard Coaching Institute also assured students of full support during the uncertain period. According to Singh, the institute will continue providing free guidance, counselling, motivation and academic assistance to students preparing for the re-test.
“Children are the future of the country, and we are preparing them to become doctors who will serve society with dedication. We stand firmly with every student during this difficult time,” he said.
Social media flooded with emotional reactions and memes
Meanwhile, the cancellation announcement led to a massive wave of reactions online, with social media platforms flooded with emotional posts, memes and criticism targeting the examination system.
Many students expressed heartbreak over having to restart the intense preparation cycle once again. Several users questioned the credibility of national-level examinations after repeated controversies surrounding entrance tests.
One viral meme featured a scene from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, showing characters sitting silently in disappointment. Another user sarcastically wrote, “Ek aur pen milega free,” mocking the possibility of appearing for the exam again.
A student wrote, “Imagine giving up your entire teenage life for an exam system that can collapse because of one paper leak,” reflecting the emotional toll the cancellation has taken on aspirants.
Another viral post read, “NTA cheap agency laughing in corner but hardworking NEET aspirants right now,” while several students shared shocked reaction memes and emotional messages describing months of isolation, stress and sacrifice for the examination.
The Centre has now referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed probe into the alleged irregularities. Fresh dates for the re-conducted NEET-UG 2026 examination are expected to be announced separately by the NTA.
