School Education Director General Monika Rani said that out of 4,44,771 applications received, 1,95,740 seats have already been allotted, indicating strong demand for the scheme.
Following Lucknow, Badaun reported 2,231 admissions, while Bulandshahr (1,834), Saharanpur (1,556), Agra (1,500), and Gorakhpur (1,034) also registered notable numbers.
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stated that strict monitoring and a transparent admission system are ensuring that every eligible child gets access to quality education.
Officials noted a clear improvement compared to last year, attributing the rise in applications to a more streamlined and digital-first admission process. From application to final enrollment, enhanced coordination and regular reviews have made the system smoother and more accessible.
What is RTE?
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 guarantees free and compulsory education for children aged 6 to 14 years under Article 21-A of the Indian Constitution.
Key Highlights:
- Free education with no hidden charges
- 25% reservation for economically weaker sections in private schools
- Ban on screening tests and capitation fees
- Strict norms for infrastructure and teacher-student ratios
With increased transparency and digital integration, the RTE admission drive in Uttar Pradesh is witnessing stronger participation—bringing thousands of children closer to quality education.
