In a significant step towards enhancing industry-oriented learning, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has partnered with IBM to provide an AI-focused virtual internship to 2,400 B.Tech students from affiliated colleges. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by offering hands-on experience in emerging technologies.
The 60-hour experiential internship has been designed around project-based learning, allowing students to work on practical applications of Artificial Intelligence. The programme carries two academic credits, and participants will receive certificates upon successful completion.
During the internship, IBM experts are conducting interactive training sessions and guiding students through real-world projects that reflect current industry demands. The focus is on helping students develop technical competencies that are increasingly sought after by employers.
Students explore diverse AI applications
As part of the internship, students are working on a wide range of AI-driven projects, including AI-powered resume screening systems, automated AI model building, sentiment analysis of product reviews, restaurant recommendation chatbots, social media content generators, multilingual translation tools, intelligent traffic management systems, text analytics platforms, and AI-based legal document review solutions.
These projects are designed to expose students to practical problem-solving while familiarising them with the latest AI tools and technologies.
Strengthening employability through industry collaboration
AKTU has been consistently expanding opportunities for students through workshops, training programmes, expert sessions and industry partnerships. The collaboration with IBM reflects the university’s continued focus on equipping students with future-ready skills and improving their employability in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
