Experts Call for Sustainable Lifestyle at BBAU on World Earth Day 2026

On the occasion of World Earth Day 2026, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University organized a special program promoting sustainable lifestyle and environmental responsibility under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” Experts and university officials emphasized collective action, balanced resource use, and youth participation for nature conservation.

On the occasion of World Earth Day 2026, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) organized a special program focused on this year’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” The event was jointly hosted by the Department of Geology and the Sustainable Development Goals Committee.


Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal emphasized balanced use of natural resources and adoption of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” principle, calling environmental protection a moral duty. Chief Guest and District Forest Officer Shitanshu Pandey highlighted forests as vital carbon sinks and urged youth to adopt sustainability as a lifestyle.

Shared Responsibility 

Experts stressed collective responsibility, policy-level action, and grassroots participation to transform conservation into a mass movement. Competitions and a special lecture session were also organized, with winners felicitated during the valedictory ceremony.

Forests as Carbon Sinks

At Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Chief Guest Shitanshu Pandey highlighted forests as vital carbon sinks that help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide. He urged youth to adopt sustainability as a lifestyle, stressing the need to protect and expand forest cover.
