Women’s Day Awareness Drive in Jahangirpur Highlights Rights, Safety and Empowerment

Earth Foundation brings together women, youth and local leaders to promote gender equality, financial literacy and community support.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Earth Foundation organised an awareness programme in Jahangirpur village of the Gosainganj Block, focusing on women’s rights, safety and empowerment.

The programme brought together women, girls, youth and community leaders to discuss issues like violence, discrimination and gender inequality, while raising awareness about legal rights, safety measures and dignity.

Women and girls were encouraged to stay aware of their rights and spread awareness in their communities. Participants also pledged to work towards a safer and more gender-equal village.

Education & Empowerment

Jahangirpur Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dhanraj Yadav highlighted the role of local governance in women’s empowerment. He said the panchayat is actively promoting women’s self-help groups and organising meetings and training sessions to strengthen women’s financial independence.

Similarly, Mahmoodpur Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sarvesh Kumar emphasised that education is the most powerful tool for women to achieve their dreams and build a secure future.

Government Safety Outreach

Police personnel Sarvesh Sadhna and Shubhra Tripathi from Gosainganj Police Station informed participants about the Mission Shakti campaign and the 1090 Women Power Line, encouraging women to report harassment and seek help without hesitation.

Youth Voices

Local women leaders, including self-help group president Basundhara Yadav, Anganwadi worker Tarawati and ASHA worker Renu, shared inspiring stories of overcoming challenges. Youth participants also added energy to the event as Varsha, Anita, Payal, Haripriya and Rimjhim presented awareness songs celebrating girls’ dreams and empowerment.

Financial Literacy Drive

Representatives from Haqdarshak, Varun Singh and Gyanendra Kumar, helped women create scheme eligibility cards so they could access various government welfare programmes.

Financial trainer Rajat Srivastava from the Securities and Exchange Board of India also conducted a session on financial literacy, raising awareness about online fraud and safe digital transactions.

Community Pledge for Change

A signature campaign was organised where villagers pledged to support women in achieving their goals and stand against discrimination and violence. Manish Kumar Bahel, Secretary of Earth Foundation, said that true social development is possible only when women are ensured safety, respect and equal participation. The programme concluded with participation from foundation members Vinay and Komal, inspiring the community to work collectively for women’s empowerment.
