Lucknow University students shine nationally in Samsung innovation campus, win Top honors

From AI-powered recommendation systems to a data-driven tuberculosis monitoring framework, students showcased innovation with real-world impact.

Students of Lucknow University have earned national recognition for their outstanding performance in Samsung Innovation Campus, highlighting the institution’s growing presence in technology and innovation.

Rekha Kumari, a BCA student, emerged as the National Topper in the Big Data category, while Yasharth Prakash Srivastava, a final-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student, secured a place among the top performers from Uttar Pradesh.

National recognition for data-driven healthcare innovation

Selected from more than 20,000 participants trained under the programme across India, Rekha Kumari was recognised for her project, “Healtytics”, an advanced data analytics framework designed to strengthen tuberculosis (TB) surveillance, monitoring and intervention strategies. The project aims to support data-driven decision-making in public health and improve the effectiveness of disease control efforts.

AI-based movie recommendation system impresses evaluators

Yasharth Prakash Srivastava developed an AI and Big Data-powered Movie Recommendation System that analyses user preferences, viewing patterns and interests to deliver personalised content suggestions. The project demonstrated the practical application of emerging technologies in enhancing user experiences across digital platforms.

Students honoured at Samsung india headquarters

In recognition of their achievements, both students were felicitated at the headquarters of Samsung India in Gurugram. They received a cash award of ₹1 lakh each along with commemorative mementoes.

As part of the programme, the students also visited Samsung R&D Institute Noida, Samsung R&D Institute Delhi and Samsung Design Delhi. The visits provided them with opportunities to interact with industry experts, gain insights into user-centric innovation practices and understand the processes behind next-generation product development.

Congratulating the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini and Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. S.P. Singh said the achievement reflects the university’s commitment to innovation-driven learning, technical excellence and industry-oriented education.
