Thousands of aided secondary school teachers in Lucknow may soon see progress on several long-pending service and financial matters after a high-level meeting between education department officials and representatives of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh.
During the meeting, District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Devendra Kumar Pandey and Finance & Accounts Officer Dhirendra Kumar Singh reviewed a range of issues related to salary payments, pension benefits, promotion pay scales, arrears, GPF records and notional increments.
One of the major decisions concerns promotion pay scale cases of teachers in boys and girls schools. Officials said scrutiny has been completed and orders in pending cases are expected to be issued after objections are resolved.
Teachers of Chutki Bhandar Girls Inter College also received a boost, with the DIOS directing the management to submit salary bills without delay. Officials further assured that teachers affected by court-directed arrangements would be attached to schools within urban areas, with subject-wise options being prepared before final allotment.
In a significant move, pending arrear cases will now be examined offline, and approved claims of up to Rs 2 lakh will be processed immediately. The teachers body also urged authorities to reconsider previously rejected online arrear cases through offline verification.
Officials informed the delegation that grants have already been received for some retired teachers covered under the National Pension System (NPS), while fresh requests for remaining cases have been sent to the government.
The department also assured that Form 16 for the financial year 2025-26 would be made available free of cost during the first week of July.
On pension-related matters, authorities confirmed that GPF ledgers of around 100 teachers shifted from NPS to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) have been received and will be forwarded to the Directorate after processing. Schools will also be asked to submit pending records in remaining cases.
The meeting further reviewed notional increment files, with officials stating that received cases have already been forwarded to the Deputy Director of Education. Fresh communication will be sent to schools to expedite pending submissions.
Teachers were also assured that every effort would be made to ensure salary payments on the first day of each month. A special camp will be organised for verification of GPF ledgers and issuance of account statements.
Another key decision was that salary bills of ad hoc teachers will now be submitted and cleared alongside regular salary bills every month, reducing delays in payments.
The delegation was led by Dr R.P. Mishra, Pradeshik Upadhyaksh of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh. Other representatives present included General Secretary Narendra Kumar Verma, Pradeshiya Mantri Dr R.K. Trivedi, District President Anil Sharma, District Secretary Mahesh Chandra, Treasurer R.P. Singh, and State Executive Committee member Dr Meeta Srivastava.
