Students of GCRG Memorial Trust have brought pride to the city by securing sixth place in the prestigious 13th Go-Kart Design Challenge, a national-level engineering competition that tests innovation, design and performance.
What makes the achievement special is that the racing car used in the competition was completely designed and built by the students themselves. The go-kart, developed through months of technical planning and teamwork, can reach a top speed of around 60 km per hour.
According to institute officials, the team spent nearly ₹3 lakh to design and manufacture the vehicle, including chassis development, engine integration and safety components.
Sharing details during a press conference on Tuesday, Deputy Director Abhishek Kumar said the accomplishment reflects the institute’s focus on practical engineering skills and innovation.
The student team behind the project included Khursheed Alam, Lalit Mohan, Kamal Jeet Singh, and Rajan Yadav, who worked extensively on designing, assembling and testing the vehicle.
The 13th Go-Kart Design Challenge was held in Tamil Nadu from February 20 to 24, attracting teams from engineering institutions across the country.
The achievement highlights the growing hands-on innovation and technical creativity among engineering students in Lucknow.
