Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) organized a series of creative and awareness-driven competitions on the eve of World Earth Day as part of its two-day programme (April 21–22) dedicated to promoting sustainable development. The initiative was jointly conducted by the Department of Geology and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Committee of the University.
More than 200 students from various faculties actively participated in six competitions, including poster-making, rangoli, speech, eco-reel challenge, poetry recitation, and quiz contests. The themes of the competitions focused on environmental conservation, Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of youth in building a sustainable future.
Objective of the Programme
University officials stated that the primary objective of the programme was to spread awareness about environmental protection and encourage students to adopt responsible and eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. They emphasized that such creative platforms not only foster a competitive spirit but also deepen students’ understanding of climate change, resource conservation, and sustainable living.
The winners of the competitions will be felicitated during a one-day national seminar scheduled to be held on April 22 to mark World Earth Day.
