BBAU Seminar : Phule Jayanti Highlights Inclusive Change & Social Awareness

Four-day programme features academic events, competitions and cultural activities

A four-day series of events to mark Ambedkar Jayanti and Foundation Day began at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University on Friday, with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal inaugurating the celebrations. The programme, scheduled from April 11 to 14, features seminars, competitions and cultural activities.

BBAU Seminar Maps Road to Inclusive Growth & Empowerment

The opening day marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule with a national seminar on inclusive development, highlighting his role in promoting an equitable society through education.

Chief guest Sanjay Paswan stressed understanding social issues for change, citing B. R. Ambedkar and explaining the “PHULE” and “GLAD” frameworks for an inclusive society.

Prof. Mittal highlighted education as key to transformation, urging students to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation and responsible use of technology.

Speakers Highlight Phule’s Vision

Guest of honour Prof. Sadanand K. Bhonsle highlighted Phule’s literary contributions and women’s role in social change, while Prof. Shura Darapuri stressed education in reducing inequality. Prof. M. Ravi Kumar linked Phule’s vision to the National Education Policy 2020.

The day featured a documentary screening, exhibition of rural crafts, and student competitions, including a debate and slogan-writing contest on B. R. Ambedkar.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Subhash Mishra, with enthusiastic participation from faculty, students and staff.
