New structured program offers hands-on experience, flexible learning modes, and faculty-led research exposure under NEP framework

In a significant move to promote skill development and research exposure, Lucknow University has announced the launch of a structured internship and research program open not only to its own students but also to those from other institutions and organizations. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application while aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP), which emphasizes mandatory internships.
Eligibility, Selection & Fee Structure
The program will be open to external applicants at a fee of ₹5,000. Admissions will be merit-based and subject to:
• Availability of faculty supervisors
• Departmental infrastructure and resources
• Required institutional approvals
Selected candidates will get the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced faculty members and researchers.
Flexible Learning Modes with Practical Focus
The internships and research programs will be conducted in offline, online, or hybrid modes, depending on the nature of the course. However, for activities involving:

Students will engage in diverse activities such as laboratory experiments, field studies, legal research, case analysis, creative projects, healthcare demonstrations, business studies, data analysis, surveys, and report writing.
Duration & Faculty Supervision Limits
The university has defined clear timelines for participation:
• Short-term internships: 4–6 weeks or 1–3 months
• Long-term research/training: 4–6 months
To maintain quality mentorship, faculty supervision capacity is capped at:
• Professors: Up to 8 students
• Associate Professors: Up to 6 students
• Assistant Professors: Up to 4 students

Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini stated that the initiative will strengthen students’ research aptitude by providing them with real-world exposure.
Prof. Geetanjali Mishra, Additional Director at IPPR, highlighted that internships are a key component of NEP, and this expansion will allow more students to benefit from LU’s academic ecosystem.
