Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University has reappointed Prof. J.P. Pandey as Vice-Chancellor for another three-year term following approval from Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel.
Prof. Pandey’s previous tenure saw AKTU achieve several landmark milestones, including securing NAAC A+ accreditation in its first assessment cycle — a first in the university’s 25-year history.
Under his leadership, the university introduced industry-oriented B.Tech programmes in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and VLSI, while also fast-tracking implementation of NEP 2020 through major-minor degree options and new-age courses in space and quantum technologies.
AKTU also expanded its innovation ecosystem with initiatives like the ₹100-crore innovation fund, One District One Incubation Center, Kalam Patent Center, and startup-focused policies for students and faculty.
Focusing on employability and practical learning, the university strengthened industry collaborations, placement training, and research infrastructure, including the establishment of Uttar Pradesh’s first Infosys Makers Lab and AICTE IDEA Lab.
After taking charge for his second term, Prof. Pandey said AKTU will now work towards becoming a hub for Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, with a stronger push on Centres of Excellence and skill development initiatives.
