CBSE re-evaluation portal goes live; technical glitches trouble students

Students face login and payment issues while accessing post-result services; CBSE says the portal is functioning normally.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally activated its re-evaluation portal after several delays. However, students attempting to access the platform have reported multiple technical issues since its launch.

The portal went live on June 2 after being postponed repeatedly due to technical challenges. The delay had already caused concern among students, particularly as the college admission season is currently underway.

Soon after the launch, students began reporting login-related problems. Many users claimed that the website froze after they entered their credentials and security codes. Others received error messages indicating that their login requests had expired or that verification had failed despite entering the correct details.

Payment issues add to concerns

Apart from login difficulties, several students reported disruptions during the fee payment process. According to users, the portal became unresponsive while applications were being submitted, raising concerns about failed transactions, duplicate fee deductions, and missing payment receipts.

These technical glitches have increased anxiety among students trying to complete the process before the deadline.

Complaints about scanned answer sheets

Students have also reported problems with the scanned copies of evaluated answer books available on CBSE’s Online Service Management (OSM) portal.

Common complaints include blurred scans, missing pages, incomplete answer sheets, and the absence of supplementary sheets. As a result, many students are seeking verification or re-evaluation before submitting formal challenges.

Nearly four lakh students are expected to use the re-evaluation platform this year.

CBSE maintains portal is functioning normally

Despite the complaints, CBSE has stated that the portal is operating smoothly. Board officials said that more than 1,100 transactions were successfully processed within hours of the portal becoming active.

To ensure system stability, technical support is being provided by experts from IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras. CBSE has also partnered with four major banks for online payments, with the State Bank of India handling the majority of transactions so far.

The Board estimates that around 80,000 students may eventually submit formal challenges regarding their marks. No extension of the application deadline has been announced yet.

Aadhaar verification made mandatory

CBSE has introduced Aadhaar-based verification for accessing the re-evaluation portal. Students must enter their Aadhaar number to proceed with their applications.

Those who do not possess an Aadhaar card may use the Aadhaar details of a parent, guardian, or close relative.

The CBSE re-evaluation portal will remain open until June 6.
