BBAU Expands PG Offerings: 5 New Courses Approved, Fee Structure Finalized

University strengthens industry linkages and revamps placement framework to boost student opportunities

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is set to introduce five new postgraduate courses from the upcoming academic session, following approval by the Academic Council. The decision was taken in a बैठक chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, marking a significant expansion in the university’s academic portfolio.
According to Admission Committee Chairperson Prof. Amit Kumar Singh, the newly approved programmes include:
• MA English – 40 seats, ₹20,000 per semester
• MA Geography – 40 seats, ₹20,000 per semester
• MA Development Studies – 40 seats, ₹40,000 per semester
• M.Com – 40 seats, ₹50,000 per semester
The introduction of these courses is expected to provide students with more diverse academic choices while aligning with evolving career demands.
Focus on Industry Collaboration
In a major policy shift, the university has also amended its Training and Placement Ordinance. The revamped structure will include the appointment of a Director, Deputy Director, and Assistant Director in the Training and Placement Cell. These officials will be responsible for strengthening coordination with industry stakeholders to improve placement outcomes.
Additionally, an Advisory Council will be formed under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor to guide placement strategies and industry engagement.
Other Key Decisions
The Academic Council also approved a new ordinance for self-financed courses, along with the proposal to appoint a university-level director to oversee their implementation and management.
These developments reflect BBAU’s push toward academic expansion, stronger industry integration, and enhanced employability for students in the coming years.
