The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the subject-wise schedule for the UGC-NET June 2026 examination, setting the stage for one of the country’s largest eligibility tests for higher education and research aspirants. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode between June 22 and June 30 across designated centres nationwide.
Two shifts daily, over 80 subjects covered
The examination will be held in two sessions each day — the morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon and the afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. More than 80 subjects have been scheduled across multiple exam days, covering disciplines ranging from humanities and social sciences to science, technology and regional languages.
City intimation slips expected soon
Candidates can expect details of their allotted exam city approximately eight to ten days before their examination date. Those scheduled to appear on June 22 are likely to receive city intimation information by mid-June.
NTA has urged candidates to regularly monitor the official UGC-NET website for the latest announcements, examination instructions and admit card notifications and download their admit cards immediately after release. Candidates should carefully verify their subject code, examination centre, reporting time and shift details to avoid any last-minute issues.
Exams to open with arts, languages and computer science
The examination cycle will commence on June 22 with subjects such as Visual Art, Geography, Tamil, Marathi and Labour Welfare in the first shift. Computer Science and Applications, Home Science, Bengali, Persian and Music will be among the subjects conducted in the second session on the opening day.
The final phase of the examination on June 30 will feature subjects including Economics, Environmental Sciences, Anthropology, Sanskrit and Political Science in the morning shift. Sociology, Statistics, Yoga, Tourism Administration and Forestry are scheduled for the afternoon session.
