Girls aged 15–26 receive final dose of India-made Cervavac vaccine during health awareness campaign

In an effort to raise awareness about women’s health and prevent Cervical Cancer, a free HPV vaccination drive was organized at University of Lucknow on Tuesday 10-03-26.
The campaign was conducted by the university’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and targeted girls aged 15 to 26 years. During the drive, participants were administered the third and final dose of the HPV vaccine ‘Cervavac’, an India-developed vaccine designed to protect against cervical cancer.
The vaccination schedule had begun earlier, with the first dose administered in August last year and the second dose in October.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of university dispensary doctors Rajesh Kumar Saroj and Ankita Singh.
Senior faculty members including Vivek Sharma, S. P. Singh, and Director Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi were also present during the campaign.
Vision Behind the Initiative:
The vaccination drive was organized with the aim of strengthening awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraging early protection against cervical cancer among young women. By administering the HPV vaccine at the right age, the initiative sought to reduce the long-term risk of cervical cancer, which remains one of the most common cancers affecting women in India.
Through this campaign, University of Lucknow also aimed to educate students about the importance of timely vaccination, regular health check-ups, and informed healthcare choices.
