BBAU to Introduce AI, Skill-Based Programmes in Upcoming Session

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) has announced major academic initiatives, including the launch of skill-based short-term, open elective, and certificate courses in line with NEP 2020. The University is also establishing a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to promote emerging technologies and innovation-driven learning. These initiatives aim to enhance employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and ensure holistic student development under the vision of inclusive growth.

During a press conference held in the context of the four-day celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, the Vice-Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Prof. Rajkumar Mittal, announced the introduction of several new academic and skill-based courses from the upcoming academic session.
Focus on Skill-Based Education
Responding to queries from journalists, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the university will launch a range of skill-oriented courses aimed at enhancing students’ employability. Alongside traditional disciplines such as English, Geography, and Psychology, practical skill-based modules will also be introduced across various streams.
Industry-Ready Add-On Courses for BBA & BCA
For students enrolled in BBA and BCA programmes, new add-on courses such as Tally, typing, and data entry will be offered to equip them with industry-relevant competencies. Prof. Mittal emphasized that these initiatives are designed to strengthen practical learning and bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements.
AI Courses and Centre of Excellence
Highlighting the growing importance of emerging technologies, the Vice-Chancellor announced plans to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related courses and establish an AI Centre of Excellence on campus. The proposed centre aims to promote advanced learning, research, and innovation in AI and allied fields.
Expansion in Media & Film Studies
Speaking about media and communication studies, Prof. Mittal informed that several new courses will be introduced in areas such as camera handling, video editing, BA Film, Theatre and Media Studies, and other media-related disciplines. These programmes are intended to provide hands-on training and professional exposure to students aspiring to enter the media and entertainment industry.
One Student–One Skill Vision
Prof. Mittal stated that the broader vision behind these initiatives is to implement a “One Student–One Skill” programme, ensuring that every student graduates with at least one employable skill in addition to their academic qualification.
CCC & O-Level Courses Under Consideration
When asked about the introduction of CCC and O-Level courses, he confirmed that the university is actively working on the proposal and a decision will be taken soon.
The announcements reflect the university’s renewed focus on skill development, technological advancement, and career-oriented education in the upcoming academic session.
Ex-President Ram Nath Kovind to Inspire Students
The Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at BBAU, scheduled from April 11 to 14, 2026, will witness the participation of several eminent personalities. Former President Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest on April 13. The programme will commence on April 11 with a national seminar on Jyotiba Phule, where Sanjay Paswan will attend as the Chief Guest. On April 12, a seminar based on the vision of B. R. Ambedkar will be held, featuring speakers such as Satish Chandra Dwivedi and Sudarshan Verma.

University PRO Dr. Rachana Gangwar and Prof. K.L. Mahawar, Head of the Four-Day Organizing Committee, shared the dais with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal during the press conference. Dean of the School of Media, Dr. Gopal Singh, along with faculty members Dr. Arvind Singh, Dr. Loknath, and Dr. Kunwar Surendra Bahadur, Dr. M. K. Padhy, were also present. Among other attendees were Dr. Shilpi Verma, Dr. Naveen Kumar Arora, and several university faculty members.
