A major administrative lapse led to chaos at Lucknow University after students of the BA fourth semester Philosophy department were given the wrong examination paper on Wednesday. Instead of the scheduled Western Ethics paper, students were made to appear for the Western Philosophy exam without prior notice.

According to students, there had been no official communication regarding any change in the examination schedule. The sudden switch created panic inside the examination halls, with several students left unprepared for the unexpected paper. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of distress, as many students—particularly female candidates—were seen in tears due to the confusion and pressure.

Despite strong objections from students, the examination was conducted, and they were reportedly compelled to attempt the Western Philosophy paper. The incident quickly escalated, prompting a large group of students to gather outside the office of the Controller of Examinations in protest.

Student leaders also joined the demonstration, demanding immediate action and a re-examination for the affected paper. Among those present was student leader and National Vice President of Samajwadi Lohia Vahini, Abhishek Srivastava, who strongly criticized the university administration for negligence.

Several other student representatives, including Sarvesh Yadav, Anurag Chaudhary, Piyush Chawla, Sarvagya Pratap Singh, Jatin Yadav, Abhishek Raj Singh, Gulshan, Rohit, Vikas Rathore, Archit, Aakarsh Mishra, Surya Pratap Singh, Shiva Sonkar, Gagandeep Singh, Ashish Raj, and Shikhar Devesh Pathak, were also present during the protest.

The protesting students have demanded a fair resolution, including the cancellation of the wrongly conducted exam and the announcement of a fresh date for the correct paper.
