Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University has been officially recognized as a Virtual Labs Nodal Centre by IIT Roorkee, enabling its students to perform practical experiments online through advanced digital platforms. This recognition will remain valid until December 31, 2026.

With this development, students will gain access to IIT Roorkee’s specialized software and virtual lab infrastructure, allowing them to conduct experiments remotely and strengthen their conceptual understanding without being limited by physical lab constraints. The initiative is particularly beneficial for students who require flexible and accessible learning environments.

The university has appointed Dr. Vinodini Katiyar as the Nodal Coordinator to oversee operations and ensure smooth implementation. As per the guidelines issued by IIT Roorkee, the university must arrange the necessary infrastructure, including computers and reliable internet connectivity. Additionally, it will be mandatory to organize at least one workshop per semester to familiarize students with the virtual lab system.

Importantly, no extra fee will be charged from students for using this facility. The Nodal Coordinator will also be required to participate in periodic meetings at IIT Roorkee and submit regular usage reports and feedback

Speaking on the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Acharya Sanjay Singh stated that becoming a Virtual Labs Nodal Centre will significantly enhance the quality of practical education through modern technology. He emphasized that the initiative will especially benefit students with disabilities by making the learning process more accessible and effective.
