Catalysing Viksit Bharat at CSIR-CIMAP, Dr. Ritu Trivedi Champions Market-Driven Innovation

Emphasising women-led research, market-ready innovation, and scientific mentorship, CSIR-CIMAP’s National Science Day event reflected India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat.

CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow, celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm, highlighting the Spirit of Discovery and Innovation and the growing role of women-led scientific research in shaping a Viksit Bharat.
The day-long programme commemorated the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel Laureate C. V. Raman, and was organised under the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat”, aligning with India’s long-term vision of Viksit Bharat-2047.
The event was conducted under the leadership and guidance of CSIR-CIMAP Director Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, and brought together scientists, research scholars, students, innovators, and young learners from across the region.
Women Scientists Driving Market-Ready Innovation
The programme was graced by Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Scientist-G at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow, as the Chief Guest. Delivering the National Science Day Lecture on “Cutting-edge Research Leads to Market-driven Innovations”, she stressed that modern science must move beyond laboratories to real-world applications.
Dr. Trivedi underlined the importance of commercialisation, startup culture, and industry collaboration, noting that inclusive research ecosystems—especially with rising participation of women scientists—are crucial for sustainable innovation, employment generation, and economic growth.
Mentorship, Collaboration and Industry Linkages
The programme was presided over by Outstanding Scientist Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, who highlighted the vital role of mentorship by senior scientists in nurturing young researchers. He described CSIR-CIMAP as a global role-model institution in scientific research and innovation.
Marking a significant step toward industry linkage, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was formally signed between CSIR-CIMAP and Dewdrops Wellness Pvt. Ltd. for the marketing and market seeding of PsoriaCIM cream, strengthening collaboration in the herbal and wellness sector.
Open Day Inspires Young Minds
An Open Day was also organised, drawing participation from over 225 students from schools and colleges including National PG College, Lucknow; CSA College of Agriculture, Kanpur; Jayprakash Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Unnao, and other institutions. Students explored laboratories, medicinal and aromatic plant research, and ongoing scientific projects—sparking curiosity and scientific temper among the youth.
