CBSE extends Class 12 re-evaluation deadline; students get extra day to apply

Extension comes amid concerns over answer sheet access and evaluation-related grievances raised by candidates.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for Class 12 students to apply for verification and re-evaluation of their board examination answer sheets. Students can now submit their applications through the board’s post-result services portal until midnight on June 7, 2026.

The decision gives candidates additional time to review scanned copies of their evaluated answer books and seek verification of discrepancies or re-evaluation of specific answers. The facility is available only to students who have already obtained scanned copies of their answer sheets.

The extension follows reports from several students who faced difficulties accessing answer books and completing the application process on the online portal. At the same time, concerns have emerged over alleged mismatches between uploaded answer sheets and students’ handwriting, triggering questions about the board’s on-screen marking system.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Secretariat has constituted a one-member committee to examine issues related to the procurement and implementation of the on-screen marking (OSM) system used by CBSE.

The board has clarified that no offline applications or requests submitted after the revised deadline will be entertained.
