Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow has commenced the online registration process for admission to its PhD programmes for the 2026 academic session. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications through the university SAMARTH admission portal within the prescribed schedule.

The university has advised aspirants to carefully read the PhD Information Bulletin and Admission Prospectus 2026 available on its official website before proceeding with the application process. The documents contain detailed information on eligibility, admission procedures, programme specific requirements and other important guidelines.

The application fee has been fixed at Rs 1,000 for candidates belonging to the UR, OBC and EWS categories, while SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates are required to pay Rs 750. The last date for submitting online applications without a late fee is August 12, 2026. Applicants who miss the deadline will be able to register until August 18, 2026 by paying a late fee of Rs 1,500.

BBAU has also clarified that the registration fee is applicable separately for each PhD programme, and an application will be considered valid only after successful online payment. The university has further stated that the registration fee will neither be refunded nor adjusted under any circumstances once paid.

In a significant relief for some applicants, the university announced that candidates who had already applied under the 2025 PhD admission notification for Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering, Development Studies, Horticulture, and Pharmaceutical Sciences will not have to submit fresh applications. Their previously submitted application forms will remain valid for the entrance examination and subsequent counselling process.

The university has urged all eligible candidates to complete the registration process within the stipulated timeline to avoid last minute inconvenience.
