LU to Introduce Centralised Admission System for 2026–27 Session

Fee deadline extended, admission cell revamped, and colleges pushed for NAAC readiness in major university overhaul.

Lucknow University will implement a centralised admission system for undergraduate and postgraduate courses from the 2026–27 academic session, in a move aimed at ensuring transparency and uniformity across affiliated colleges.

The decision, approved by Vice-Chancellor Prof. J. P. Saini, makes it mandatory for students to apply through the Samarth portal. Officials said the system will streamline the admission process and curb irregularities.

Colleges in Lucknow, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur and Raebareli have been directed to join the system by depositing the prescribed participation fee.

Officials added that the new mechanism will eliminate scope for seat manipulation by colleges. Admissions conducted beyond the stipulated deadline may render students ineligible to fill examination forms, placing accountability on institutions.

Admission Cell Gets New Chairman

To facilitate smooth implementation, Prof. Pankaj Mathur has been appointed chairman of the admission cell. Registrar Dr. Bhavana Mishra said the appointment was made as per the vice-chancellor’s directions.

Meanwhile, the university has extended the deadline for depositing second-semester fees for UG and PG courses till April 10. The earlier deadline was March 27.

Colleges Asked to Prepare for NAAC Evaluation

In a separate development, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel asked affiliated colleges to prepare for accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council during a review meeting at Raj Bhavan.

Officials said 50 colleges, including 17 government and 33 aided institutions, have submitted progress reports. The governor emphasised timely filling of vacant posts and expressed concern over declining student enrolment.

Colleges have also been directed to improve infrastructure, laboratories and digital facilities, and to ensure effective use of CSR funds while participating in public welfare initiatives such as tuberculosis eradication and vaccination drives.
