The Government of India has approved a major workforce expansion in the Enforcement Directorate (ED), creating more than 1,200 additional posts as part of the recruitment process through the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced recruitment for 12,256 Group B and Group C posts under SSC CGL 2026. The vacancies are available in various central government ministries, departments, and agencies. The recruitment drive is also expected to support fresh appointments in the Enforcement Directorate, where the sanctioned staff strength will increase to 3,256 employees.

ED expansion creates new opportunities

The creation of over 1,200 new posts marks a significant expansion of the Enforcement Directorate, the agency responsible for investigating financial crimes and enforcing laws related to money laundering and foreign exchange violations.

Candidates selected through SSC CGL 2026 may be appointed to various positions in the ED and other central government departments, depending on vacancies and the allocation process.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

The age limits vary by post:

• Group B posts: 18 to 32 years

• Group C posts: 18 to 27 years

Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories as per government rules.

Selection process

The recruitment process consists of two stages:

Tier I Examination

A computer-based objective examination that serves as a screening test.

Tier II Examination

Candidates who qualify in Tier I will appear for Tier II, which will determine the final merit list and selection.

The SSC CGL 2026 examination is expected to be held between August and September 2026.

Salary and benefits

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 4 to Pay Level 8, depending on the post. In addition to basic pay, employees will receive allowances and other benefits as per Central Government service rules.
