Loreto Convent Intermediate College; A Legacy of Girls’ Education Rooted in Values and Social Responsibility

Founded in 1872, Loreto Convent Intermediate College, Lucknow, is managed by the Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as the Loreto Sisters. The Institute itself was founded in 1616 by Mary Ward (1585–1645), an Englishwoman whose vision of educating girls was far ahead of her time. She pioneered a new form of religious life that placed the education of young women at its core.
