Lucknow Public School (C.P. Singh Foundation): A Journey of Purpose and Progress

Founded in 1988, Lucknow Public School began as a single campus in Lucknow and has grown into a network of 10 branches across Uttar Pradesh. Established by Late Shri C.P. Singh, the school focused on discipline, values, and academic consistency from the start. Over the years, LPS expanded gradually to meet local needs while maintaining a structured learning environment. Today, it serves over 16,000 students, continuing its emphasis on value-based education and holistic development.
Campus Times | Lucknow
Lucknow Public School (C.P. Singh Foundation) began its journey in 1988, at a time when private school education in the city was still limited to a few pockets. Starting from a single campus, the institution has grown steadily over the years into a network of 10 branches across Uttar Pradesh by 2023. The growth of LPS has been gradual and need-based. From the beginning, the focus remained on providing value-based education with an emphasis on discipline, empathy, and academic consistency. Over the decades, the school expanded not only in physical presence but also in reach, serving students from different social and economic backgrounds.
The Man Behind the Idea
The foundation of Lucknow Public School was laid by Late Shri C.P. Singh, whose approach to education was shaped by discipline and public service rather than commercial ambition. Those who worked with him recall that his intention was never limited to opening a school building, but to create an institution that could shape responsible citizens.
His belief was clear and often repeated:
“A disciplined child never fails in life.”
This thought guided the functioning of the school from its early years.
Education Beyond the Classroom
At LPS, academics were always important, but they were not treated as the only measure of success. Daily routines such as morning assemblies, dress code, punctuality, and classroom conduct were designed to instil a sense of responsibility and respect.
Teachers and former students note that values like humility, service, and self-discipline were treated as part of everyday learning, not as separate lessons. Discipline, in this sense, became habitual rather than enforced.
Expansion Driven by Need, Not Investment
The second campus of Lucknow Public School was opened in 1997 at Ashiana, Sector-I. According to school records and staff accounts, resources were limited at the time. The decision to open another branch was taken mainly to make education accessible to more families in the city.
Each campus that followed came up with a similar purpose. The expansion was slow and localised, responding to demand from parents rather than driven by large financial backing or corporate planning.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
The passing of Shri C.P. Singh in 2006 marked a difficult phase for the institution. However, the responsibility of continuing the work was taken up by his son, Mr. Lokesh Singh.
Under his leadership, the school expanded into Unnao and Raebareli, while maintaining similar academic structures and discipline systems across branches. Those associated with the school say that efforts were made to ensure uniformity in school culture, even as student numbers increased.
Campuses Across the Region
Today, Lucknow Public School operates 10 campuses across Lucknow, Unnao, and Raebareli. While infrastructure and facilities vary by location, the academic framework and school routine remain largely consistent.

More Than an Institution
For many alumni, Lucknow Public School remains closely linked to their formative years. Former students often describe the school as a place where routine, discipline, and daily interaction shaped their outlook beyond academics.
As the school system adapts to digital tools, updated curricula, and changing learning needs, its core principles remain largely unchanged—discipline, quality education, and value-based learning.
More than three decades after its founding, Lucknow Public School continues to function not just as an educational institution, but as a long-running effort to combine structured learning with character development.
