Lucknow University launches MBA in Pharmaceutical Management to tap India’s booming pharma sector

New-age programme blends healthcare, business and innovation, opening high-growth career avenues for science and pharmacy graduates

In a significant step towards industry-oriented higher education, University of Lucknow has opened admissions for its newly introduced MBA in Pharmaceutical Management programme for the academic session 2026–27. Offered by the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Lucknow, the course is designed to prepare students for leadership and managerial roles in India’s rapidly expanding pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
Admissions open for 2026–27 session
The two-year postgraduate programme will be conducted across four semesters and offers 60 seats. Admissions will be based on a General Aptitude Test, while online application forms are available on the university’s official website.
The programme is open to candidates from diverse science and technical backgrounds, including B.Pharm, B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B.Sc. Chemistry and M.Sc. streams. Applicants from the general category must have secured at least 50 percent marks in qualifying examinations, while candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories require a minimum of 45 percent marks.
Curriculum designed around industry needs
Developed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the curriculum has been structured with a strong focus on industry relevance and professional skills. The course carries 80 academic credits and includes subjects such as Pharmaceutical International Business, Pharmaceutical Product Development, Pharmaceutical Brand Management and Biomedical Devices.
University officials believe the programme will bridge the growing gap between pharmaceutical sciences and business management by creating professionals who understand both healthcare innovation and market dynamics.
Growing career opportunities in pharma sector
With India continuing to strengthen its position as a global pharmaceutical hub, the sector is witnessing a surge in demand for trained professionals in areas such as product management, healthcare consulting, regulatory affairs, marketing and international business. Industry experts estimate that graduates entering pharmaceutical management roles can secure annual packages starting from ₹5 lakh or more at the entry level, depending on skills and specialization.
The semester fee for the programme has been fixed at ₹81,080.
According to university authorities, the MBA in Pharmaceutical Management is among the first employment-oriented programmes of its kind being introduced in state universities of Uttar Pradesh, aiming to create a new generation of healthcare management professionals equipped for global opportunities.
