Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has started the online counselling process for admission to more than one lakh BTech seats in over 750 engineering colleges across Uttar Pradesh from Monday. The admissions are being conducted under the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) process for the 2026-27 academic session.

According to university officials, the counselling will be conducted completely online in seven rounds, including five main rounds and two special counselling rounds for vacant seats. Admissions will be offered on the basis of JEE Main and CUET-UG ranks, while private engineering colleges will also fill a portion of seats through management quota admissions.

Candidates seeking admission through the regular counselling process must complete registration, pay the counselling fee and upload the required documents during the initial registration window itself. AKTU officials clarified that fresh registration will not be allowed in the later rounds of counselling.

Choice filling to begin in June, seat allotment from June 27

The first phase of registration and fee submission has begun today. Online choice filling for the first round will continue from June 22 to June 25, while seat allotment results will be announced on June 27. Candidates will then have to complete seat confirmation formalities, including fee payment and selecting freeze or float options, between June 27 and June 29.

In the second round, choice filling will take place from June 30 to July 1 and seat allotment results will be declared on July 3. The third round counselling process will begin in early July, with seat allotment scheduled for July 9.

Physical reporting mandatory; academic session starts July 15

AKTU has also made physical reporting at allotted colleges mandatory after seat confirmation. Officials said students who fail to report physically at the institution within the stipulated timeline will lose their allotted seats and no refund will be provided.

The university has allowed candidates to modify their college and course preferences only up to the third round. After that, submitted choices will automatically be frozen and carried forward for the remaining rounds.

Students who lock their seats in the first four rounds will have to report physically to their respective colleges between July 14 and July 16. The new academic session is scheduled to commence from July 15.

AKTU officials further said that special counselling for vacant seats in government engineering institutions will begin from July 18. Apart from this, vacant seats in some colleges may later be offered directly to Class 12 pass candidates as per admission guidelines.
