Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University has initiated preparations for PhD admissions for the upcoming academic session, with a special focus on increasing international participation. The university has introduced dedicated supernumerary seats for foreign students across all departments to strengthen global research engagement.

Total Seats and Category-Wise Distribution

A total of 278 PhD seats will be filled this year. This includes:

• 144 National seats (Full-time and Part-time combined)

• 134 International seats (Supernumerary category)

The detailed admission brochure has been approved in the 40th Academic Council meeting, and it contains complete information regarding seat distribution, fee structure, and eligibility criteria.

Admission Process and Selection Criteria

According to university spokesperson Prof. Yashwant Veeroday, the PhD admission process is expected to commence from May 8, 2026.

• The university will not conduct a separate entrance examination.

• Admissions will be based on:

o 70% weightage to UGC NET scores

o 30% weightage to Interview/Viva performance

For international candidates:

• Registration on the Study in India portal is mandatory.

• Admission will be granted directly through interview performance.
