“Failure in itself is a unique experience. Many times in life, we work very hard to achieve a goal but success does not come immediately. In such moments, instead of being discouraged by failure, one should learn from it and rise again with greater determination. In life, you either win or you learn.”
These inspiring words were shared by Aditya Hriday Upadhyay, who secured 154th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, while interacting with students at Lucknow Public School (C.P. Singh Foundation), Sector-I Branch, on Saturday. The interaction was organized under the school’s initiative ‘Back to School – Alumni Interaction Series.’
Aditya, an alumnus of the 2017 batch, received a warm welcome from students and teachers upon his return to his alma mater. On this occasion, School Manager Mr. Lokesh Singh felicitated him with a bouquet and a memento. Appreciating his achievement, he stated that Aditya’s success serves as a great inspiration for the students and his experiences will motivate them to remain committed to their goals.
Clarity of Goals and Accountability are the Keys to Success
Addressing the students, Aditya emphasized that one of the major challenges among students today is the lack of clarity about their goals. He advised them to clearly define both their short-term and long-term objectives and have a clear understanding of what they aim to achieve the next day, the next week, or even the coming year.
He further highlighted that accountability plays a crucial role in achieving success—whether it is accountability towards oneself, parents, or teachers. Aditya also noted that modern technology, when used wisely, can significantly enhance focus and productivity. According to him, consistent efforts and the right direction of thought ultimately lead to success.
Inner Balance and Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone is Essential
Sharing insights from his personal journey, Aditya said that success requires individuals to step out of their comfort zones and push beyond their limits. He encouraged students to also dedicate time to activities that bring them inner happiness, such as reading good books, watching meaningful films, or pursuing their hobbies.
He explained that when a person feels internally balanced and happy, their efficiency and dedication towards their goals naturally increase. During the interactive session, students asked several questions about his preparation, struggles, and journey, to which Aditya responded in a simple and motivating manner.
Emotional Return to His Alma Mater After Nine Years
After the formal session, Aditya took a tour of the school campus. Returning to his alma mater after nearly nine years, he became emotional as he revisited the classrooms where he once studied. He also interacted informally with students and sought the blessings of his former teachers.
School Principal Mr. Rakesh Singh remarked that Aditya’s achievement is an inspiring example for the students and such interactions encourage young learners to dream big and work towards achieving their aspirations.
The event was also attended by Vice Principal Ms. Sonika Banerjee, Eldeco Branch Principal Mrs. Surabhi Sharma, along with teachers and other distinguished members of the school community.
